From Mary Mihailidou’s text

“Should symbols die, man dies, too”
                 Roland Barthes

Nowadays, as we find ourselves in an altogether different era, when all kinds of modernism and post-modernism have obviously been frozen or outdone, Annita Argiroiliopoulou calls us upon a difficult exercise of self-knowledge.
An artist with a direction towards the essence of knowledge, she has very early in her artistic progress introduced works of art made of personal memories and genuine existential experiences. It was thus, more than natural, to be inspired, especially for the “Palaio Syssitio” (Old Mess) Building, a work of art symbolic as well as poetic, with dematerialized hands as its focal point, representing worshiping-pleading signs-codes of eternal offering.
Besides, the competent Greek artist, with the specifically designed for this particular venue exhibition, named “Prothesis” (Intention), is seeking the deeper meaning of human nature, using light, transparencies, protean shapes and hazy human figures, and is transforming, with an allusive language, her personal artistic adventure to  a high quality expressive artistic image.
